Emma McPhee receives the Utah Public Safety Medal of Excellence

Geography alumna Emma McPhee (B.S. 2020) recently received the Utah State Public Safety Medal of Excellence which was presented by Governor Spencer Cox at the Department of Public Safety Award and Commendations Banquet at The Little America Hotel. This award is presented to an individual who accomplishes a service or task that goes beyond any normal assignment in a manner far above and beyond expected professional standards. Emma received the award for her work on grant management for three active presidential disasters, as well as running the damage assessments for Utah’s spring 2023 flooding event. She was a Peer Advisor in the Department of Geography from 2016-19 and currently works as the Infrastructure Recovery Coordinator at Utah Division of Emergency Management. Congratulations Emma!
