Dennison, Brewer reveal increases in Western US wildfire at AGU

New research on Western U.S. wildfire trends was presented by Geography professors Phil Dennison and Simon Brewer at the American Geophysical Union meeting in San Francisco this week. In an article on the website LiveScience, Dennison discusses how fire activity measured using Landsat remote sensing data has increased in many different regions of the West. Trends in increasing number of fires and area burned coincide with worsening drought over the 1984-2010 period.
