"Three Vignettes Demonstrating the Use of GIS in Transportation Geography Research"
Abstract: This lecture will introduce the research area of Transportation Geography and demonstrate how GIS is being used in three distinct research projects. The first example focuses on measuring accessibility, the ease with which people can reach their destinations. The second example contains a social equity analysis of the Utah Transit Authority's potential distance based fare structure. Finally, the third case study explores the concept of Social Interaction Potential, the ease with which people in a region can access one another.
