DIGIT Lab moves to Paradigm II building in Research Park
The DIGIT Lab is the premier GIS and spatial analysis facility at the University of Utah, and until recently, it was located in Orson Spencer Hall. With the impending demolition of reconstruction of OSH, DIGIT recently moved to a new facility in the Paradigm II building in Research Park. The has joined DIGIT in the new space.
Utah Remote Sensing Applications (URSA) LabDIGIT Lab Director Dr. Phoebe McNeally had this to say about the move: "Although it was sad to leave OSH (there's a lot of good memories there), the DIGIT Lab is settling in to our new space in Paradigm and enjoying being co-located with URSA. The addition of URSA is a natural fit given the overlap of students and interests, both research and recreationally. Our new location also boasts easy parking and a lot less flooding potential!"
URSA Lab Director Dr. Phil Dennison also had good things to say about the new facility. "My students are definitely going to benefit from the depth of GIS knowledge possessed by DIGIT students. Like peanut butter and jelly, DIGIT and URSA are going to be a great combination."
When the new OSH building is completed in a few years, both DIGIT and URSA will be reintegrated into the same building with the Department of Geography.
