"Wildfires in the West" exhibit visits OSH
The Natural History Museum of Utah (NHMU) has allowed the Geography Department temporary use of the "Wildfires in the West" display from their recent "Nature Unleashed: Inside Natural Disasters" exhibit. It is in the South lobby of OSH for everyone to interact with and learn more about wildfires.
Contributions to this display were made by Geography faculty. Dr. Mitch Power contributed work on fire regimes and climate, and the exhibit displays one of Dr. Power’s sediment cores that shows charcoal layers from past fires. Dr. Phil Dennison helped write the exhibit text and collaborated on the development of two interactive displays. Dr. Tom Cova helped with exhibit materials pertaining to the wildland urban interface.
A special thanks to the NHMU exhibits department for installation. We hope you enjoy viewing this wonderful display.
