Geography students recognized for research
Han Li wins 2014 Best Graduate Paper Award of AAG's RDPSGroup
Han Li was unanimously selected for the 2014 Best Graduate Paper Award by the Honors Committee of Regional Development and Planning Specialty Group (RDPSG) of the Associatin of American Geographers (AAG). His paper is titled "Administrative Hierarchy and Urban Land Expansion in China." The RDPSG will present the award to Han at the AAG Annual Convention in Tampa on April 9, 2014. He will also be recognized at the AAG Awards Luncheon on April 12, 2014.
Ling Zhang selected for Tom McKnight and Joan Clemens Award
At the 2013 Association of Pacific Coast Geographers (APCG) Annual Meeting in Squaw Valley Village, Lake Tahoe, California, Ling Zhang was given the Outstanding Student Paper award. The title of her paper was "Foreign Retailers in China: the Case of Hypermarket Retailing." The Tom McKnight and Joan Clemens Award for the Outstanding Student Paper is a $500 cash award.

Hao Huang receives Outstanding Research Award & OSM Scholarship
Hao Huang received an Outstanding Research Award at the Annual Conference of the Chinese Association of Science and Technology in Utah. She presented the paper of "Inter-city Competition for Foreign Direct Investment in China: Institutional Changes, Comparative Advantages, and Agglomeration Effects" in the Innovation and Cooperation Symposium: Research and Education. In addition, she received a OpenStreetMap scholarship from the Annual State of the Map US Conference.
